For the past decade, an important part of my sculpture has centered on the creation of cremation urns as sculptural form unto themselves. In order to present the completed sculpture as a composite, the process has required as much concentration on the pedestal for a specific piece as on the form it is meant to support. The pedestals are fabricated from stone plate material resulting in a hollow container that serves as the urn itself, while the sculptural form serves as the handle used to open the urn. The design behind this work has followed my organic reductive focus.
This body of work continues to expand, and the cremation urns found on this page represent the most recent examples. The current series of 14 unique cremation urns is fully represented here and on the sculptural vessels page.
Each of my natural stone sculpture or wood sculpture urns is hand carved and fabricated, and can be recreated; the new form will be a kindred spirit of the original, but a one-of-a-kind carving unto itself. If the desired work is not immediately available, it can be completed in approximately 6-8weeks. Requests for new design are welcome.
As of January 2011, my sculpture cremation urns will be sold only via this website, and offered at wholesale cost to the public. Prices range from $1500.00 to $2500.00 USD for single urns, and $2000.00 to $3000.00 for companion urns. Shipping and handling costs are included.
