“Sleep to The Doves Cou-Rou”

The title for this piece was taken from a passage in Rudolfo Anaya’s, Bless Me Ultima. The bird forms were modeled from the opening leaves of a desert pod plant, split apart to become kindred doves, and carved from the same block of stone to accentuate their relationship. The doves are secured to a limestone plate with a drinking pool, and act as a handle to open their tiered limestone vessel.
